Melissa L. Weber is a writer and editor with more than 25 years of public relations planning experience. Prior to starting Rhymes with Orange, LLC, Melissa honed her public relations and writing skills for more than 20 years at The Ohio State University.

As communications director for the College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences she oversaw the groundbreaking ceremony and grand opening of the Physics Research Building, produced a science calendar that was distributed to every high school in Ohio, developed a TV show called “Physics on the Edge” with professors in physics education, and planned the first website for the Mathematical Biosciences Institute.

While director of communications and marketing at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medical Center, Melissa produced college magazines, newsletters, brochures, news releases, video scripts and publicity plans; and developed a social media presence.

As the recruitment coordinator for the Women’s Health Initiative (funded by the NIH), she and her team conducted hundreds of presentations and convinced 3,400 Central Ohio women to participate in the study at the Wexner Medical Center, one of 40 clinical centers across the country.

Prior to Ohio State, Melissa provided advertising and public relations support through agency work for clients including McDonald’s, the Ohio Bankers Association, Ohio Nursery Association, Ruscilli Construction, Big Lots, Huntington Bank, and Bob Evans.

Her freelance articles have been published in local magazines including Columbus Home and Life, Columbus Monthly, and Small Business News. Topics have included decorating, wedding planning, and retail buying. Melissa was recognized by Women in Communications, Inc. with an award for feature writing.

Current clients include Battelle, The Ohio State University College of Nursing and Office of Academic Affairs.

A lifelong Ohioan with degrees from Bowling Green State University and The Ohio State University, she currently lives in Worthington, OH.
